Michael Zarowny worked as a research
assistant for the BC Centre for Excellence from October 1999 to July
2000, before moving on to a position at the Canadian
HIV Trials Network. His responsibilities included data entry of
the Vanguard questionnaires so that they can be analysed by the
statisticians.
Michael also helped design posters
and slides for conference presentations and assisted with keeping
the Vanguard web site up to date. In addition, he provided clerical
assistance to the HIV/AIDS Drug Treatment Program and entered data
for the Phenotyping Project, an analysis of the success of various
antiretroviral drug therapies.
"What I like about working for
the Centre for Excellence is the variety of tasks that need to be
completed," says Michael. "Working with the Vanguard
Project has given me a chance to understand the importance of health
research, especially pertaining to HIV and hepatitis."
