The Gender and Sexual Health Initiative (GSHI) highlights the critical need to address issues of gender and sexual health in the response to HIV. Globally, HIV is the leading cause of mortality among women of reproductive age.
The Gender and Sexual Health Initiative brings together research collaborations to evaluate the intersecting interpersonal, social, physical, and policy environments shaping sexual health, HIV/STIs and access to care among marginalized women and sex workers both locally and internationally.
The initiative bridges public health, policy, social epidemiology, and qualitative research, and aims to move forward evidence-based and gender-focused HIV prevention, treatment and care.
